Grounded in experience. Leading what’s next.
Serving the Elmbrook School Board since 2015. Board President since 2020.
A Record of Steady Leadership
I’m Scott Wheeler, current Elmbrook School Board President since 2020 and active School Board Member since 2015. I am proud of our work over the last 10 years to guide Elmbrook to be the best district in the state year after year and am asking for your Vote on April 7th to continue our work.
My focus has been consistent: strong academics, responsible governance, and thoughtful decisions that put students first while respecting families.
During my time on the board, I’ve helped guide major decisions that shape our district’s future. That includes supporting the expansion of 4K access so more families have early learning options, and working to maintain student access to books and learning resources while recognizing the important role parents play in their children’s education.
I believe the best outcomes come from steady leadership, careful listening, and a commitment to what works - not chasing trends or headlines. As Elmbrook looks ahead, my goal is to continue providing experienced, balanced leadership that keeps our schools strong and our community confident in the direction we’re heading.
Why I’m still here…
A district only works when the people in the classrooms, hallways, and offices feel supported and heard. Treating staff as key stakeholders isn’t political - it’s practical, and it directly impacts student outcomes.
Elmbrook has changed since 2015. Enrollment patterns, student needs, technology, safety expectations - none of this is static. Staying effective means staying engaged, informed, and willing to evolve.
I’ve served on the Board since 2015 and as Board President since 2020 because institutional memory paired with forward thinking makes better decisions - for students, families, and taxpayers.
What the school board actually does:
Oversee a $143 million budget with long-term financial planning, not short-term politics.
Curriculum standards, instructional priorities, and outcomes - not classroom micromanagement.
Policies that ensure every student can access learning in a way that works for them.
Facilities, transportation, and protocols that keep schools functional and secure.
These decisions are complex. They require preparation, careful thought, and collaboration.
How I make decisions
Every issue that comes before the Board is different. I don’t vote based on labels, pressure, or talking points. I take the time to understand the issue, review the facts, listen to staff and community feedback, and ask how the decision will affect students - both now and down the road.
When the best path forward is clear, I support it. When it isn’t, I ask questions and push for better answers. Sometimes that leads to consensus. Sometimes it doesn’t. Either way, my responsibility is the same: to make thoughtful, well-prepared decisions that reflect the needs of our schools and the expectations of the community.
School board work isn’t about ideology. It’s about judgment, preparation, and doing what’s right for students.
Results, Not Rhetoric.
Kept academics strong through years of change and disruption
Made careful budget decisions while responding to evolving student needs
Helped provide steady leadership during key transitions
Consistent work that keeps the district moving forward.
Stay informed. Stay involved.
School board decisions affect classrooms long after the election is over. I believe the best outcomes come when families and community members stay informed, ask questions, and participate in the process.
